If you are in town for the day, there are many ways to celebrate the day in NYC. Here are a few of our favorite ideas:
Veteran’s Day Parade and Street Fair:
New York’s Veteran’s Day Parade is that largest of it’s kind in the nation – with over 20,000 participants and 600,000+ parade spectators This year’s parade theme is “Never Forget.” In addition to honoring veterans of all eras, this year’s parade will pay special tribute to the 10 Anniversary of the September 11 attacks, the 70th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, the 50th Anniversary of the beginning of the Vietnam War, and the 100th Anniversary of Naval Aviation. This year’s featured service branch is the United States Navy. Members of all service branches will be represented and honored.
The opening ceremony will start at 10 am right here in Madison Square Park at the Eternal Flame. The parade commences at 11am on 23rd Street continuing north on Fifth Avenue up to 59th Street. The official reviewing stand is located at 41st Street in front of the New York Public Library. Bleachers are available next to the reviewing stand.
Following the parade, head over to the Veteran’s Day Street Fair on 53th Street between Madison & Sixth Avenues.

Ice Skating:
Ice skating in the City is a beloved seasonal tradition. Whether you are participating or watching, the only problem is which of our World famous rinks do you choose from?
Rockefeller Ice Rink has sessions at 8:30am-10, 1030-12 1230-2, 2:30-4, 4:30-6, 6:30-8, 8:30-10, 10:30-Midnight. Pricing for adults will be $19.00 Friday-Sunday, children under eleven and seniors $10.50 Friday – Sunday. Skate rental is $10 per session.
The Pond at Bryant Park is open from 8am-10pm. Admission and lockers are free. Skate rentals are $14, lock rentals are $9 and bag check is $7. The line tends to be longer on holidays – but you can buy a VIP fast pass online The Pond VIP FastPass gives your group(up to 9) VIP access, reserving your spot, and provides each member of your group with a high quality pair of rental skates.
The Wollman Rink in Central Park is open from 10am-11pm on Friday and Saturday. Rates for adults are $16, children are $6, and seniors are $8.25. Skate rentals are $6.75. Lock rental is $4.50 with a a $6 deposit. The spectator fee is $5.
